David Fradin
A huge piece of me was torn away on March 30th that will never be repaired. I will always
wonder why you passed away so before your time. Why could you not tell us that you were
terribly sick? Why did you not ask for help sooner? We asked you to go to the hospital and you
refused. We talked so many times on Sunday and each time you dismissed seeing a doctor.
Your stubbornness and desire to solve your own problems without help was often a great
quality, however it will never make sense to me this time.
There are too many emotions going through me to put them into a logical order. I am hurt
beyond comprehension knowing you are gone. I am frightened to see what the future holds
without you in it since without you it will never be what I envisioned. I am angry that you were
taken from me at such a young age with unlimited potential to achieve whatever personal goals
you set.
I do not even know how to begin or what to say. I am devastated beyond words and will never
fully recover. The only motivation I have in life is to take care of your mom and Devin. Without
that there is no purpose to push thru this pain. I will dig deep to pursue a healing process and
make you proud. Proud of the way I will handle this, proud of the way I will take care of your
mom who you loved so much, and proud of your brother that is becoming such an amazing
man.
The agony I am suffering is like nothing I have ever experienced. The crying is so deep inside it
creates pain in my organs. I love you so much, my intelligent and sensitive son. You always
thrived in school while still maintaining modesty about it. You constantly reached out to see
how people were doing with deep caring about your friend’s and family’s feelings. We had such
an unbreakable bond that will never be broken despite your passing. We talked countless times
about how after college we would work together. That was one of my main goals in life – to
create a company you could call home. This really was not the goal – the goal was so we could
spend our days together without ever losing touch. That was what motivated me daily – the
hopefulness we would be able to spend countless days together to continue our bond.
I am so lost without you. Over the past year our relationship was shifting. I was becoming more
of a person you could count on and open up to versus just being your father. Every morning I
would send you a different quote, depending on what was going on in our lives, that you would
respond to. Every day we would text each other non-stop to the point you often called me
needy – which I was without a doubt. When at home, you would always make sure to give me
hugs and kisses in the morning and before bed. The sound of your loud footsteps running
downstairs to give me a hug and kiss Goodnight always brought a smile to my face. When I got my
Goodnight hugs and kisses I would hold you a few seconds longer than you wanted because
I did not want to let go.
Life is full of challenges and that will never change. I usually embrace challenges with open
arms with a mindset that I can overcome any obstacles. This is different. I have no desire to get
over this pain or get over the early passing of you. With time, I will get to a better place, but I
will never fully recover. At some point I will replace the tears of pain with tears of joy as I think
about how incredible you were.
I love you with every ounce of my body and pray you Rest In Peace.
Dad…
